OK so I will admit a character flaw to you here: I operate best if I only focus on one task at a time. Like a race horse with its blinkers on, I need to be focusing directly on the ‘task-at-hand’ otherwise I can become distracted very quickly.

I work hard on retaining this single-mindedness so I don’t end up with an extraordinary amount of unfinished art projects cluttering my home. To be honest, regardless of my blinkers, I always have multiple half-complete projects. I would even go as far as saying that I have a ridonkuslous (its like ridiculous but crazy like a donkey) amount of unfinished work just awaiting the spotlight.

As you may recall I am a full time university student. As well as this my current employment status is a casual during school terms. This leaves me as a lass with much time during the day and little to dedicate my skills or attention to other than my own whims and fancies.

As the artist and daydreamer that I am known for being I would love to just spend this time listening to music and thinking of wonderful imaginary things. As the product of a traditional country upbringing, and a life of experience that has taught me to take advantage of everything life throws at me and making opportunities at all other times to learn and experience more and different things I cannot just sit idly by and do nothing until March.

The end result?

I have enough fabric in my box for eight or so patchworks, which will make the same amount of doubly bed quilts. I will almost have enough to make half of the same sized quilt from hexagon-shaped hand paper piecing.

My plan is to make the quilts. It seems simple, right? Then I will make soft toys of the larger left overs. Then some cushion covers of the remainder. And so on and so forth.

What is my point? What am I getting at? Well. I have finished the first patchwork and have quilted it. Yay! I will find a market to have a stall and sell this, along with my novelty potted succulents and toy necklaces.

Above is the aforementioned patchwork quilt. On my Instagram feed are the preliminary toys to be made into necklaces. I will soon share my succulents with you also.
