I am the dancer and Lupus is my music. I want to make it look beautiful

Big changes – Goodbye Nitya Nata!

I have not completed all of my exams as yet, I still have one to go. I recently popped in to let you know I would not be popping in for a little while, as I finished off my semester. Yet it seems I cannot keep away since I said that. I suppose I just wanted to keep you ‘in the loop’ as there are going to be some pretty big changes happening behind the scenes between my next few visits.

I trust you and respect you, even though we have not yet met. That is why I shared my other contacts to follow and that is why I have felt the need to again drop in with an update. You may notice, or not, that I have changed my domain name, my URL. This year I have taken steps to clean up my profile and separate it to some point from my private persona, in preparation of any future work I may do with the Education Department and schools.

At the moment I am in the process of developing my blog to the point where I can use it as a direct platform for the discussion, information sharing and guidance of living with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE or Lupus). It has always been my intention to share the details of my experience as a way of giving hope and understanding to other young people who are going through, or know of someone going through, a similar circumstance in their own life. I intentionally include discussions and theories I have on nutrition, physical activity, emotional wellbeing, alternative therapies, not to mention myriads of experiences I have during my bouts of good health in which I attempt to participate in the same ‘young woman’ activities as other people my age.

The intent behind these inclusions is to show how resilience and positive attitudes can empower us to achieve far beyond what we think we are capable of. They are also, I hope, suggestions of healthy and safe ways to look after a body that is at times difficult to get along with. I realise everyone’s journey is different and all I can hope is that by sharing my experience and knowledge, by allowing you to follow me through my good and bad times, by revealing a little bit of myself with each post you will gain some understanding or inspiration about yourself. Perhaps you will try something new, or be less inhibited in continuing down a path your are already on with a fresh or renewed outlook.

I can only hope.

So with this blog I have opened up. I have taken big steps down a clear path with genuine intentions. My next step is to completely mobilise my platform. You will be privy to my ideas on healing and alternative medicines. You will be included in my journey through yoga, pilates and Water-based  exercises. You will, hopefully, even see me taking up a residency with a positive-actions organisation and my very own domain.

I am putting my big girl pants on indeed!

Please kind friends, if you can contribute any thoughts or topics to write about, let me know! This may be the last step before a book and I would absolutely love your guidance!!

Good Bye Nitya Nata!

I am in my mid twenties and fighting my battles to discover who I am and where I fit in to this zany, beautiful world. I was diagnosed with Lupus in in 2008. This takes up most of my focus, as I want to share the experience of trying to live with and rise above chronic invisible illness, so to speak. I would like to stress very much the information regarding medications, medical procedures and illnesses are discussed from my point of view, and with my understanding, colloquialisms and metaphors. I do not attempt to be legally and precisely accurate for the general population, rather I try to be emotionally and descriptively true to my experiences. I hope I can help in understanding others with chronic illness by providing one more personal recount of just how spontaneous and difficult these lives really are. One day I hope to visit every continent, climb some pretty high mountains, sleep in an ice cavern, marry a wonderfully understanding man, have children and teach more children. Mostly, I just want a simple life, you know the house with a husband and kids. Oh, and no pain.
